Mulberry Tree MT CLAREMONT
At Mulberry Tree Mt Claremont we understand that children are curious, capable and competent learners. They come to us with a wealth of knowledge and understanding and it is our responsibility to support and nurture this. Our centre aims to provide experiences that are meaningful to your lives and follow your child’s natural curiosity about the world and how it works. Our friendly educators focus on nurturing children’s passion and inspiration for lifelong learning!
“Children do not need to be made to learn about the world, or shown how. They want to, and they know how” – John Holt
We strongly believe in the environment as the third teacher, creating inspiring, warm, supportive classrooms that nurture each childs sense of being and belonging. Our aim is to create an environment that the children want to play in but also a place that adults want to be in. Our rooms are filled with open ended resources that support creativity and we utilize nature not only as a source of inspiration but also learning.
Mulberry Tree Mount Claremont is tucked away within the beautiful grounds of HBF Stadium, surrounded by gorgeous trees and wonderful bush land to explore. We place great importance on nature and aim to foster a strong connection with the community in which our friends live, we love to explore the local parks and recreation reserves around HBF Stadium and provide intimate experiences of our Australian Bush in Bold Park and Perry Lakes. We are frequently going on bush walks for excursions and as a support to our projects. We also have a Bush School program that is used by the Kindy class. While attending the centre our little friends have access to our own natural outdoor environment to encourage curiosity and discovery, the outdoor Art room is a place for our friends to explore their creative side and to engage in project based inquiry work.
“Healing the broken bond between our young and nature is in our self interest- not only because aesthetics or justice demands it, but also because our mental, physical and spiritual health depends upon it and so does the health of our earth” – Richard Lou
All children learn differently, explore differently and have a multitude of interests; therefore our curriculum emerges directly from children’s interests. This means that within our classrooms you will be able to see multiple projects being facilitated. As educators we view ourselves as co learners and explore and discover alongside the children to support their sense of wonder and awe of the world. We support and guide children in their explorations creating lifelong learners who have a thirst for investigation and inquiry. We utilise careful observations of children’s abilities and plan our curriculum to challenge their current capabilities and scaffold their learning.
“One of the virtues of being very young is that you don’t let the facts get in the way of your imagination” Sam Levenson
Parents can share in their childs learning journey with the simple click of a button. Our secure online portfolios make it easy to view your childs development and the growth and extension of their interests at your leisure, you can even share access with other family members and friends.
“It is not what is poured into a student, but what is planted” -Linda Conway – Teacher
Families are the experts when it comes to their child and so we encourage active collaboration between educators and families so that we can build on the strength of each other’s knowledge. Relationships with the children and families are of upmost importance as are the relationships between the educators. We pride ourselves on only employing the most dedicated educators to join our team who share in our belief that teaching is not a profession, it’s a passion.
“We play together, learn together and share together.”
