Mulberry Tree BROOME

Broome is located 2,200 km north of Perth in Western Australia. It is a beautifully historic place with a population of 15,500 people and has many interesting places and wonderful sites to see and events to be part of. We enjoy crystal blue oceans and white sandy beaches, the Port gives you access to walk on the historical jetty, come and try some pearl meat at Pearl Luggers, see how to cultivate fresh and salt water pearls at Willie Creek Pearl farm, and view the beautiful sunsets at Roebuck Bay and Cable Beach. On clear evenings several times a year you can also enjoy the Staircase to the Moon, it is simply breath taking.

Mulberry Tree Childcare Centre is part of the Broome history, we have been operating for two and a half years since we took over from Chu Chu’s Early Education centre in 2007. The building has been operating as a child care centre for the past 26 years and holds the title of the first ever daycare centre to be erected in Broome. We have families bringing their children to the child care centre who previously attended themselves when they were children, so our environment is enriched with a high community and family feel. Our Mulberry Tree Childcare Centre offers a service like no other centre in Broome.

We are an ‘Exceeding” rated service where the educators are patient, loving and passionate in providing a happy healthy environment, full of age appropriate and educational programs using natural resources for the children’s early development and interests. Our fabulous centre boasts recent renovations to the indoor learning environments; we have changed the original three rooms into four fun filled rooms for Early Years Education. We have a separate dining room where we come together  at meal times focusing on the value and importance of these times of day. We run a nursery for children 0-1year olds, a toddlers room for 1-2 year olds, a prekindy room for 3-4 year olds and a kindy room for our 4-5 year olds. Mulberry Tree Childcare Broome offers a highly culturally and inclusive environment whilst providing a diverse service which thrives on participation from the local community. We place great value on supporting and participating in the local community events. We have many excursions/incursions and calendar events such as Constable Care Visits and Australian Outback Tours who came to sing and dance with us. When the mango trees are ripe we enjoy Mango Month where the Lions club members come down to the centre to make mango smoothies and jams with the children. The Shinju Matsuri Festival happens every year where the staff and children make items and art activities relating to the history of Broome , the staff also enjoy participating in the Dragon Boat Race as a networking and social activity. Our unique outdoor play area incorporates our natural environment in which we live by providing children opportunities to role model and engage in play reflecting places and activities that we do on a daily basis within our society.

Our unique outdoor play area incorporates our natural environment by providing children with opportunities to role model and engage in play reflecting places and activities that we do in our daily lives. We value our Broome community and this is reflected in our environments with mango trees, rocks, pindan (red dirt), beach sand, fishing in the outdoor boat and cubby houses with lots of natural boab trees, frangipani trees and shade trees. The staff have great relationships with the families at our service developed through respect, trust and communication. Each family is valued and their feedback and ideas are greatly appreciated and incorporated into our programs and policy reviews. We have a strong parent committee which has input into our centre planning and encourage all new families at the centre to come along and participate in the meetings or become an active committee member.

Our educators at Mulberry Tree Childcare Broome have the appropriate certificates and qualifications to provide high quality early years education programs for children and regularly participate in further training to enhance and update our skills. We have enthusiastic educators who understand that families require a fun, safe,  secure, trusting and educational environment for their children to prosper and learn. An additional benefit to the staff base is that several of our fabulous educators are also bilingual and offer the children the unique opportunity to learn other languages. By expanding the children’s knowledge of the wider world we live in we empower them to become more accepting and inclusive of others. With this knowledge children develop a greater appreciation for other cultures and traditions. We encourage healthy eating habits at our centre and have a qualified chef who cooks our nutritional meals for us following the Nationally recognised Food Safe guidelines. Our centre has an open door policy so come down and meet our friendly local staff and have a tour around the centre.
